No one should be protected from misinformation. People should be smart enough to figure it out on their own. They arnt, most people are dumb as crap but that doesnt change things.

No one is censoring anything in these situations. A company has decided they dont want people using their PRIVATELY OWNED site to spread ideas they dont agree with. There is ZERO wrong with that. Same with a company firing you for saying dumb crap. Nothing is stopping him from saying whatever he wants elsewhere.

Everything is people and companies expressing their freedom of speech. If he gets arrested for what hes saying you can start biching about censorship.

Knew some redditor would post this argument.
You're missing the forest for the trees. I'm not arguing about the legality of it all. I'm arguing that twitter being a privately-owned company is irrelevant when understanding its impact on public discourse in the year 2022. If you can't see that you're fuking retarded, sorry brah, no other way to put it.

Like, if you literally believe that removing someone from twitter isn't public censorship because twitter is a privately-held company, you're a fuking moron.

What's scary is how many "adults" we have in this country that actively seek out misinformation because they simply can't/don't want to believe reality.

The entire term "misinformation" is a propaganda buzzword. When somebody uses that word you can automatically never take them serious anymore. Easy way to weed out the idiots.

I think you're correct in that this goes hand-in-hand with the trend of infantilizing our voting population so that they can be more easily manipulated.
I like how they use the excuse that censoring "disinformation" is "protecting Democracy" in the USA

And what about the monopoly power of these companies? Controlling vast amount of information across multiple platforms? I thought we were against monopolies. Was I wrong? A monopoly is a company that owns such a huge part of the market, that they can control supply and pricing. In the case of Alphabet (Google), they control Android, youtube, Google maps, and a major search engine. They are able to control the flow of information without anyone even realizing they are doing it. They are so big, they are controlling the market single handedly. When coupled with ********, Amazon, and Apple, we now have a theoretical cartel, which is also illegal. They work together to control the distribution of services, in this case, its information. Isn't information their product/service? Is it ok to deceive the consumer?

This country used to be about protecting consumers and businesses as a whole. Instead, it's now protection of only a few monopolies. That's leftism for you though. Creating policies that protect big business while simultaneously hurting the consumer and small businesses.

If the owners of said dying day Indian bodybuilding forum played their cards right they could probably capitalize on the relative freedom of speech they allow and breath some new life into it.

Srs though are there many other places left that aren't completely leftist and censored to crap?

If no one is fighting it at this point, its doubtful that we ever will

Americans are simply too dumbed down, too brainwashed, too comfortable, and only care about consoooming.

No one is going to fight back as long as they have their comforts and distractions. As long as Netflix keeps working, ********/Twitter remain online, the latest iGadget gets released, and as long as sports ball is on TV the American populace will remain complacent and placated.

Your mistake is thinking that there isn't a massive collusion and monopoly of State, major institutional and big corporate control these days.

There's a reason the government, Big Tech, Big Pharma, and all these major corporations with monopolized control all act in lockstep and don't ever stray from each other

Lol @ thinking they have our best interest because "people are too stupid to filter out misinformation on their own, so they need to do it for us"

Also Lol @ thinking most of what they claim is "misinformation" is actually misinformation.

Its funny how liberals used to be against big corporations and monopolies....now you never hear anything about it from them.

Want to know why?

Its because now all the monopolies are pushing the agenda that leftists WANT

Thanks for putting it correctly. Love the "redditor" nickname for these kind of arguments, lmao. It's exactly what it is.

Typical redditor does not understand that "private companies" (i.e tech giants) have become so big now that they influence how our whole society works. *******s needs some jabs to their face to awaken

People either champion and celebrate this type of stuff, or they stay quiet and conform because it’s preferable to do.

Why put yourself at risk of being attacked by the horde, damage your personal relationships, damage your reputation, and potentially risk your livelihood for saying something controversial and going against the zeitgeist, when you can just keep your mouth shut and stay on the “right” side?

You don’t want to be a stupid, bigoted, racist, anti-vaxxing, conspiracy theorist, do you? Then keep your mouth shut and listen to what your betters at big tech, big pharma, and the government tell you.

The angry mob and cancel culture. Very true. If you speak out and push back against this stuff the mob will come for you and destroy your life, your relationships, your reputation, etc.

Labelling things "misinformation" seems to be used a lot like saying "fake news".
