I don't doubt it-many pro wrestlers used to look ridiculous in the 1980's & 1990's like Ultimate Warrior-but they still looked human & in proportion & I know the levels of stuff those guys were on & how long they spent in the gym to attain that impossible look. I cannot even think how much these pro bodybuilders are doing to look like they do.

Body building = building your body through strength training. It doesn't necessarily mean injecting yourself with steroids and getting to 300lbs shredded.
When I first joined here I thought it would all be mass monsters since my former trainer was an IFBB Pro and she used to date them, but I guess those guys are mostly all on the cell tech forums.

But are those on a tennis forum hating on Roger Federer or Serena Williams? I mean if bodybuilding is your hobby then why hate on the pros?

Because tennis is a sport that requires athleticism and a tremendous amount of skill. These are elite athletes. Bodybuilding isn't a sport.

Real athletes "body build" or "strength train" whatever you want to call it to get better at their sport.

Bodybuilding is just cringe. Yeah bro lets do a bunch of steroids, eat, and then lift things up and put them down and then go stand on stage all oiled up in a thong and do homosexual poses.

Much easier to hate on bodybuilders than top level athletes in real sports. Because bodybuilding is just comical at this point with how massive these guys are and how ridiculous they look.

Ha, yes we do-we call Fed arroganter, laugh about his bagel at Wimbledon last year & say how he wins the fair play award every year when he is in reality a whiny crybaby who abuses the officials. Serena is generally detested by most for her behaviour. In FB groups people are constantly hating on Novak, Rafa, Fed etc with memes, gifs.

There was a great poster/troll called 90's Clay who would say Sampras would destroy Rafa on clay & suchlike-because that was the peak of clay court.

I compete in tennis and I can tell you after seeing what my trainer had to go through to get her pro card was insane. It's much easier to play a tennis tournament or league. Bodybuilding is 24/7 with doing cardio in the morning and at night on top of lifting and eating next to nothing. She was so exhausted that I had to carry her purse and she constantly fell asleep in her car. I don't have that type of dedication lol.

Plus you can make a lot more money in tennis.

Bodybuilding isn't dynamic. It just requires extreme discipline and consistency over a long period of time.

Contrast with real sports:

Tennis: Cardiovascular endurance, strategy (mental aspect), high level of skill, athleticism etc.
Hockey: Cardiovascular endurance, skill (shooting the puck, stick handling, precise passing), physicality (body checking), mental aspect (everything happens at such high speeds you need to be smart), explosive lower body strength, skating technique, strategy (set plays), teamwork etc.

Bodybuilding is just a dumb activity based on mental illness.

Most never even get out of the ITF's-Tennis is the most bloated system I have seen in sport, I thought Snooker was bad with the 128 & non-entities just hanging on for years to scrape a living. But Christ, nearly 2 thousand men on the Tennis tour & 1,100 on the women's tour-basically just full of kids living out their or their parents fantasy of becoming a top player & being funded to be mediocre or worse year after year.

Forget about the dangerous unhealthy lifestyle they are living for one sec, what pisses me off is when powerlifters and bodybuilders call them selves athletes, I cringe hard every single time.

What exactly do they have in common with ja morant, lebron james, Cristiano ronaldo and kamaru usman?

Crazy atheltism, endurance, high iq/ strategic thinking among other things are key in sports, not sure if that exist in powerlifting or bodybuilding.

It's srsly reminds of e sports, who are calling them selves athletes to, pale skinny pimply nerds who sit on their ass all day ay video games

It's much easier, have you done it? Dumb fk, shut your mouth

Bodybuilders have something called the off season, where they cycle off, eat ****, fart all day on their back before they start to compete for a show again, which is the next year or whatever not sure

I wouldn't say mental illness for everyone but there definitely is muscle dysmorphia involved as my trainer was 5'3 115 lbs before she started bodybuilding and then got to 165 lbs non-natty. She kept feeling like she had to gain moar and moar muscle.

I agree as I have a couple of friends who tried to make it on the tour and ended up spending most of their prize money on traveling. Tennis gave me a college scholarship so I can't complain there, plus the chance to play at the D1 level and travel which was amazing. But for women tennis and golf are really the only sports where you have a shot at making good money, even though it's a long shot.

Um I compete in tennis and I saw what she went through. I don't have that type of discipline to do what she does as it was tough enough to stick to the diet she gave me plus lifting 6x a week and 3 hours of cardio a week.

But then again I've been on the court for 3+ hours in a grueling singles league match where everyone is cheering us on from the deck and it takes a lot of mental discipline to do that and practice 4 hours a day plus 1 hour of weights in college.

Tennis does take a lot of skill as there are so many shots that you learn and use as well as the ability to sprint and have endurance. I can't even list all of them.

Sounds like a sweet activity. Your trainer sounds like a well rounded person with a good head on her shoulders and strong priorities.

Well unfortunately she passed away from a car accident recently at age 39, which is way too young. When I first saw the post on Instagram I thought she had passed away from steroid usage, as many of her IFBB Pro exes died in their 30s from steroids. It's really sad and I hear her voice every time I lift in terms of correcting my form.

In b4 Jestbrah in terms of statements of "mental illness" for pro bodybuilding.

Very few people do. Most who try often end up giving up. It's very hard to be a professional bodybuilder and I would imagine the hardest part is not gaining all the muscle but retaining it for as long as possible.

Why would you not want to be more stronger and jacked? If you don't lift and diet after 30 your body will just get skinny fat or fat aka dad bod. Yeah it might take you several 6-8 month bulks but in a few years you will build an impressive and strong physique.
