I think I would just downsize to a small condo or small home in a low tax state like Florida or Texas. In a tourist area. Use part of it to secure your belongings. Air Bnb it and travel the world. You should be earning more from an Air Bnb in Miami or the keys than you will end up spending almost anywhere else, so you'll make money while you travel.

I might retire out of the country, but I wouldn't want to work outside of it. I think that we had it good for so long, now that things are getting hard, people are just miserable and don't care much for anything outside of their little life.

I got family there that work on the resorts and they scrap by, whenever I send my Christmas money to them they get super excited. Covid really put a hurting on them too with the no one traveling and the people traveling now are super stingy with tips because all inclusive means they don’t have to throw the workers some money

He was convinced he could go there and retire for cheap. Then he encountered some health issues, and the healthcare system wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

I only posted in this thread, mostly because the dude was constantly talking chit about the US, and how much better his life would be in the Dominican. I had a sensible chuckle when he moved back home.

That's just not a good way to live, as you get tired of living in one place then you no longer have the benefits of the US to fall back on. But I'm currently in the process of creating networks in many different places in the world, so I can travel there for a month at a time, then move along to another place.

But AFAIK there aren't too many good options ATM.

- government pandemic measures [some countries you might have thought were good before]

- "net zero" policies being put in place which make life worse and more expensive

- affordable countries = poorer countries > more civil unrest due to global inflation

My ex and I had looked into Canada years back when it was the US doing stuff that infringed on privacy/individual rights and continuing to screw everyone on healthcare. Now? Uh, no. Not unless they go back to enforcing their own human rights document. Canada also has recently joined in on the nitrogen limitations.



I still think Portugal looks like a nice place...beaches, farms, cities, etc. More of a retirement place for most people though, and all of Europe is getting beat down w/Russian sanctions and Euro struggles.

Posted last week about Doug Casey only being a fan of Uruguay in SA. A few countries down there are already in turmoil. I think that their might be an alright spot in the more moderate climate of central Mexico...less expensive than the US, okay for food production and medical care. Cheap medical care may be Mexico's biggest advantage over the US right now.

yes but singapore is also:
- extremely expensive (good luck affording even a car there srs, a honda civic will cost you $150k+ USD)
- undemocratic with draconian laws and more of a conformist society
- a tiny island so it's very geographically limited with what you can do unless you make the drive over to malaysia

i say this as someone who used to live in singapore btw. overall it's a great country but just like every other country on earth it has significant drawbacks

I would say I have two already picked out(Brazil and Colombia), but I need to travel more to Asia to figure out which countries are best there. I liked Thailand a lot, but it probably isn't a place I'd ever stay for more than a few weeks at a time.

Would like to live in Japan I learned the language in hopes of becoming a gaijin (foreign worker) there. But man I’m scared they’ll get sucked into China vs Taiwan/US one day now. I know They can develops nukes in 4-6 months in the event they’d need them for defenses. But they’re a sitting duck waiting to be attacked. As much as I love the Japanese culture. My daughter has had a crush on Japan. But I just don't think that they are accepting of non-Japanese people.

Healthcare is just a problem for me. And for a lot of people. Happened to have this in my YT feed. If you leave the US you can have cheap global coverage anywhere.

This couple must be questioning their choice of Ecuador right about now. Say they had to leave the US due to lack of access to healthcare. He had some expensive spinal surgeries so his rate for health insurance now is insane and his wife's coverage was poor and also expensive before her employer cut spousal coverage completely.



High health care expenses aren't all down to poor personal habits or decisions.

ETA: Watched and they said they pay less than $200 a month for health insurance for both of them and that $80 per month per person is average. I spend more than that per month on one prescription.

Also said that they find medical care there is easily accessible and they can often get an appointment the same day to see a doctor, not an assistant or NP.
