Each storm is its own beast. System speed and what city if any it makes landfall on is what matters. Slow massive storms like this cause massive rainfall, which in a state where the water table is 8ft below surface in the majority of areas can be a real problem. The state is flat as a board in coastal areas, so once that ground hits its saturation point, the flooding begins. Also If this storm tracks east hard and hits as strong as a CAT 3, the SW coast will have only had 24-36 hours to prep/evacuate, which is bad if you live in a trailer, on water, or have a roof thats 20+ years old. You need 48+ hours to actually evacuate people. Worst case scenario people are trapped on 75 with 20+ inches of rain.Doesn’t Florida get hurricanes every year , what’s so different about this one .
