To reiterate, I am merely arguing for an ad campaign to inform people about the health and social consequences of alcohol use. How anyone can be against this is mindblowing.

We need to establish Metabo Law here, fines for obese people and using that money to subsidize healthy eating programs and weight loss coaching. Increasing fines if they refuse to lose weight each year even.

Increase taxes on garbage food, processed food is NOT always cheaper that's just an excuse to not cook. rice, veggies, chicken and lean beef cuts are still plenty cheap it's just that fat people are lazy and aren't satisfied by clean foods.

We have ****ing TV shows showing how disgusting it is to live as a fat ass piece of chit or a hoarder and people still do it, it's a form of entertainment

Obese people should be thrown into labor camps until they get down to an acceptable weight. Said labor camps could also be used to produce/manufacture some shyt, thereby also increasing our GDP.

Good point about caffeinecels, tbh.

I see these dudes at work in their 30's - 50's who brag about how they seldom need more than 5 or 6 hours of sleep a day most of the time. Meanwhile, those same guys are downing 3 huge mega sized cups of coffee a day, 2 - 4 energy drinks a day, drinking "caffeine water" (I chit you not, there are retards who buy this water infused with 120mg caffeine or wharever), and so forth.

Also, try telling them about how they can spend 1/10th of the money by just buying some Stay Awake caffeine tabs at the same gas stations they get their energy drinks and other bullchit sources of caffeine from (without all the bs like having to piss like a race horse, having stinky coffee breath and nasty coffee piss), and they never learn. Because it's as much about them wanting to think there is something special about their insanely priced pre-caffinated beverages as it is about them actually being caffeinecels.

I'm not gonna lie, I was a caffeinecel when I was young. Consuming 600mg+ in a day wasn't super uncommom for me, especially on gym days when I wanted to get the hardesr workouts possible in (I cycled working out with caffeine and without, didn't just down it before every single gym session like a moron). That being said, I was always able to go days without it with no problems, and I cut way back on stims in general in my 30's.

I quit caffeine. My mind is also blown at how much of America is addicted to caffeine. It's such an easy addiction to kick too. They are like hurr durr I can't function without my coffee tee hee. Yes you can, you dumb bitch.

You're claiming people aren't informed? We're not told about the dangers of drinking in health class?

That people can't type in "The dangers of alcohol" with Google?

i understand im just saying the underlying principle that is being shown is the overconsumption of alcohol

1 drink doesn't put you into the dui territory. therefore you wouldn't get a dui - which again seems one of the only ways you could discern "overconsumption"

you take alcohol as a substance. it becomes a problem when you drink too much

They really aren't aware. How many people know about the fact that alcohol causes cancer? What about that alcohol is a major factor in suicides? Many know about drunk driving. But how many think about how alcohol affects teenage pregnancies or the secondary consequences of divorce and broken homes?

People aren't informed, and they need to see it aggressively the way the anti smoking commercials showed them.

100% malarkey. through experience. why do you think its more "fun". people open up because anxiety is reduced. honestly, this is something you dont know about if you've never had it

it def. reduces stress

but i do see the other side if you consume too much; the "depressant" aspects

even through my own experiences though. if i had a fun night out it would outweigh the hangover in the morning

I had issues with alcohol for years and quit cold turkey about a year ago now. So yeah, I lol at people who equate it with diseases. It's not a fkn disease when you can cure it by putting the damn bottle down. I lol even harder when alcoholics try to convince me. Just because they don't have the same fortitude to make the positive life choice to quit doesn't make their situation unique or special.

Sure, and again, it isn't practical to ban it. People will still drink. But the idea is to make people aware of its role in society and how it can affect their lives negatively.

Kind of seems like you just want to jerk yourself off here. Also, again...you're doing that thing I pointed out - equating it being labeled a "disease" with that automatically being used as an excuse to not get sober (which I'm sure some do that), instead of an additional reason to take it seriously. "Hey something is fuked with my brain, the medical community/Science seems to be confirming this, perhaps I need to take it seriously."

Those "studies" that claimed there are health benefits associated with drinking small amounts of alcohol were debunked like 15 years ago. That was some horse chit some alcoholics came up with back in the day to justify copious amounts of alcohol cosumption among college campuses and the nearby housing where students reside and party all the time.

Plus it had to be pretty specific alcohol, like 1 to 2 glasses of red wine a day max to get the supposed heart/physical health in general benefits. Then even that very specific claim got debunked when people pointed out that a glass if grapefruit juice, or hell eating a real piece of fruit, gives you all those same benefits the booze supposedly did, but without the endless negative effects associated with alcohol.

Kind of seems like you just want to jerk yourself off here. Also, again...you're doing that thing I pointed out - equating it being labeled a "disease" with that automatically being used as an excuse to not get sober, instead of a reason to take it more seriously.
I sound like I'm "jerking myself off"? I've always said that equating alcoholism to diseases was fkn stupid, including when I still drank and coped about it like every other drinker does. Still never found the "it's a diseeeeseeeaaaaase" arguement to be very compelling.

The point in recognizing it is a disease is to understand that some people are especially susceptible and may require extensive amounts of rehab and psychiatric intervention to get off the alcohol. It's not simply a matter of will for those people. I know a person who is horribly addicted to alcohol. She lost custody of her kid and has been in and out of rehab trying to quit.
