Basically instead of the Sprint result being your starting position for the race, they will now be treated as two 100% separate events and each will have their own qualifying, which will replace FP2 on the sprint weekend.
This will incentivize drivers to actually push hard on Sprint races, because they would be allowed to fix the cars if they break before the next quali, unlike the way the Sprint weekends currently go due to Parc Ferme conditions.

Also, the fact that drivers are unanimous about eliminating 2 practice sessions was kind of surprising to me.

From there all they're doing is playing with fuel loads, tires, etc. Also, the fact that drivers are unanimous about eliminating 2 practice sessions was kind of surprising to me.

They should make teams only use a single tire all weekend, you know to save the environment of all that rubber.

they really could get rid of all these "bye" weeks and easily compress the season down to ~4-6 months as opposed to 9 months

I feel like they easily could have gotten a race in easily at one of the many Australian Circuits, or even something like Portugal that do race

FP 2 used to be 100% pointless because they couldn't change anything on the cars anyway. Also now if they fk a car up during the sprint, they're allowed to fix it. Before, that would be a penalty. This will definitely incentivize teams to really take Sprints more seriously and not play it so safe.

What I'm not sure of is if I prefer any kind of sprint format over the regular format. It just adds needless complexity to try and earn more money imo.
