They get more comical with each movie. Less and less grounded in reality and more and more becoming a comic book universe.
These.

Loved the first one but I was yawning and waiting for it to over halfway thru 4. It gets to a point where the entire film just feels meaningless because there are no stakes. You wonder why some of them are even bothering to shoot each other at all as their suits tank hundreds of bullets and the fight only gets finished by a broken neck or a sword or whatever.

I will say though that I enjoyed the dragon breath shotgun scene

I call it "Celebration". It's sexual, and violent...

It's a movie. If it was 100% life like it would be boring. Just go and watch "Hitman No kill, no run, no knockout, no disguise, no alarms" etc runs in the game. That's what a super assassin would look like. 95% of the movie would be silent, because he would just be sniping people from afar or setting it up to make it look like they died of an accident.

Even simple and over the top movies require rules and stakes.

In John Wick 1 he was a super bad ass best of the best assassins. If you watch special forces people play airsoft with with teens you can easily see them go in and absolutely merc them clearing out rooms. It is because they are tactically superior and don't stand in the open trading shots. This was the vibe he put off. He took damage. By the end there was almost nothing left and he was a breath away from death. Beautiful.

By John Wick 4 he had the durability of a Terminator. More really because even those limped for more than 10 seconds after taking massive amounts of damage.

The director was on Joe Rogan last month. He explained the whole thing is intended to be mythology and fantasy. It's not intended to be realistic. It's basically a dream or fantasy.

Most movies are based on fantasy and this is a perfect example. Similar to the Matrix imo. It's not supposed to be realistic. It's just showing awesome fight, gun, and car scenes that no one's seen before. Most good movies are supposed to push boundaries.

This. It's a mythology & Wick's supposed to be a demigod like Hercules or Achilles. I thought this was obvious with all the fairy tale "boogieman" & "babyaga" stuff from even the first film.

If you can't see the fun in these movies, you should get your test checked OP.

John Wick is basically a male fantasy story.

- Avenge the death of your innocent wife.
- Avenge the death of your best friend doggo.
- Avenge the theft of your classic car.
- Go on a quest while doing the above, look classy in a tailored suit, master of firearms and hand to hand combat. Be brutal, take no prisoners during your quest.

John Wick is basically a better produced 21st century version of 1980 action movie classics with Arnold or Sly like Commando or the Rambo series after First Blood. They're ment to be fun action movies to watch, and not realistic by any means.

In reality they decided to keep making movies (thankfully I love them) but decided to expand the lore and the universe a lot. Much of it unnecessarily so imo.

True but Arnold and Stallone looked like supermen. Reeves looks like he could bust a hip at any moment just from walking around, so it makes it look a lot more silly.
