Don't be stupid bro. We've been protecting ourselves against animals for a long time.

I honestly don't like zoos to begin with, I think they're kind of f*cked up. Quite frankly, that's more f*cked up than humans protecting themselves against the gorilla when the child fell in.

You all want to be outraged over something be outraged he's been captured and put on display to begin with. Don't come out of the woodwork just cause he was shot. Shooting him when he's got a small child within reach is about the only thing that makes sense here. Not caging him so people can look at him.

Kids are fragile. Gorillas are dangerous, no matter how harmless they may seem at the time. Animals don't know their own strength, so even if this gorilla meant no harm, the kid easily could have gotten hurt.

Gorilla should have been shot as soon as it touched the boy. Why it didn't happen sooner is beyond me.

I couldnt make out what the people were saying after it dragged it for the 2nd time?

I have no studies or experience with primates so I cant tell why was the gorilla dragging the kid.

Some here are saying it was scared from all the people yelling at it.

not saying the 3 yr old should have but that it was the mother's job to make sure her kid stayed out. Yes, accidents happen but it is still her responsibility to take steps to keep track of her kid. Kids being kids just makes it harder.

so when does this stop? how far are we taking this attitude? i assume we should ban highways as a kid can easily run onto the highway and get hit. we can only go so far here. at some point the responsibility has to land on the parents.

i am not going to go on about the zoo and how they handled the decision to shoot harambe. that's completely hindsight 20/20 to say they should have done something else. but the mom completely blew it here

No doubt. She should honestly be forced to pay damages to the zoo (aka the cost of the gorilla) along with any medical bills incurred.

Because he wasn't being supervised by his mom. This would've been all preventable if she kept an eye on him and within arm's reach. If the enclosure was so unsafe, there would be kids falling into it on a daily basis but as mentioned many times over, it was the mom's responsibility 100% to keep watch over her damn kid. I'm sure that this isn't this kid's first time wandering off so if she takes him to a place like a zoo, she needs to bring extra people to help her with her kid's care.

The zoo, or any other establishment (besides day care program, of course), is not your babysitter.

He didn't even seem like he was in immediate danger. He was in there for 10 minutes before they even shot the gorilla. And he only started to drag him away because people started screaming, which likely made him panic (According to the opinions of actual animal/primate experts)
