I am not sure about that stat but it rings a bell; I'll check. I did read though that if you're going to be a poor woman on the continent, Rwanda is probably the best place to be.

I don't think this woman is Rwandan. She was the American teacher trending a while ago for wearing tight clothes. If the photo doesn't have a Rwandan flag next to it or the tag umunyarwandakazi, it's not a Rwandan woman. Turns out neither is big haired woman in the last photo.

And yeah, I think we hold the world title for alien five heads.

Lol. Kigali is actually intern central, especially in the summer. Because it is safe and easy to navigate, we have droves of interns from all over the world but mostly America coming in every year, many of them in the development field.

We have mostly African expats from the region but also a fair amount of white people in the city. Mostly young professionals who live and work here because it's not nearly as fast as where they come from and the opportunity here is huge because it is a virgin country.

Muzungu is the name for white people but it has no negative connotation. It basically means a foreigner or wanderer. It's borrowed from Swahili. An African American will still be a Muzungu; basically any western person. If you look Asian, you'll be Muchinois or Muhinde for Indian.

You'll get kids in the rural areas running after you shouting muzungu but it's out of curiosity. In the city, basically no one cares. People are reserved at first but then friendly once they get to know you.

You'll ran into the occasional person who thinks you must be rich because you're a muzungu but they are few and far between. Muggings and such are very rare. We have an efficient and alert police force that keeps things in check.

We have a few gyms in the city but most people are cardio bunnies so running, aerobics and dancing is what you'll find most people doing. There's a small lifting community but not many people lift so if you do, you'll stand out in a BIG way.


I am a true miscer so of course I don't lift.

Knew a few girls with big ass alien foreheads in high school with those big ass eyes like in that instagram. Guess their people came from around your neck of the woods.

Lol. Man, I didn't even know big foreheads were a bad trait until the internet opened up the rest of the world. Everyone I knew had massive foreheads so it was normal to me.

I've heard good things about Ghana too. It's on my to-visit list. You never know - you might come to Rwanda and feel more at home than in Ghana.

Zanzibar in Tanzania is one of the most beautiful beaches. I had a friend who visited Mozambique recently and he loved it. Portuguese in Mozambique though. Start with Zanzibar - English is spoken there.

Unlike some in the misc, I don't assume all African countries are the same, just as I don't assume everything below TX is Mexico as some 'Muricans do sadly. You gonna get me at the airport and show a brah around if/when I visit?

Considering you're between some really messed up countries, I'm surprised you have not had more negative impact by it. Do you have any contacts with the police or military? I have done some work with said groups and perhaps I could talk them into covering some travel costs. I did that with one country in CA. If gyms were popular, would look into them hosting some seminars and such, but does not sound viable.

What do you mean? A genocide is for the purpose of exterminating a people based on their ethnicity, group, etc. What constructive purpose could that possibly serve?

I have a few cousins in the army but they are junior ranking. I'll ask them. Actually, Rwanda is really getting into fitness so gyms might not be such a bad idea.

2 and 7 aren't rwandan,
1 and 6 maybe
3,4,5 definitely rwandan (5 shares same face features as my mom)

My parents are from Burundi so they look the same as Rwanda people.
I haven't been there since like '99

2 and 7 aren't Rwandan, you're right. It's funny - no matter where I am, I can always spot a Rwandan or Burundian in a crowd.

Spent a week in Ghana and felt perfectly safe even though I was generally the only whitey in sight for the most part. But I was in the central business district around the airport which almost looks like a european city. loved the food.

Yeah, we don't have any real beaches unfortunately. But, zanzibar and Mombasa are in the region so that's some consolation.

I definitely want to visit Ghana. Every Ghanian I've met so far has been lovely and I've read about a lot of positive stuff coming from the country. Did you try the Ghanaian Jollof rice? I am not a big fan of spicy food but it would be interesting to challenge my taste buds.

I read that book too. Yes, depressing. If you're interested, for a film, Sometimes in April with Idris Elba, before he was a big Hollywood star, is a much better film than Hotel Rwanda for a more accurate depiction of events as they were.

Only two of those women are Rwandan and I know that because that photo shows up a lot in discussions. But even if they were, and they could be, not all Rwandan women are good looking just like not all Brazilian women are good looking.
