This is what I was thinking too. Most teachers are women or soyboys. I don't think putting a gun in their hands and calling it a day would work very well, some would probably even refuse or quit.

But I think it should definitely be optional for teachers, and we should have dedicated armed security as well. Pay for it by reducing funding to illegals healthcare or some chit

What are the stats for gun deaths in other 1st world countries?

I'm neutral on this topic, I'm just saying there are other 1st world countries that have figured out how to not have kids slaughtered like animals when they're at school. Maybe we should see what they're doing that we currently aren't doing as part of a brainstorm.

Comparing american gun laws/stats to ANY other country is fruitless. America has 50% of the world's firearms. When other countries really tightened the gun laws, there werent 350 million legally owned firearms already in circulation. Claiming to fight gun violence with gun laws/bans (yes, liberals ultimate goal is to make america's gun laws as tough as say...the UKs. Gun control laws are just the first step. Dianne feinstein already tried this in the 90s.) is like saying you are going to end world poverty by moving all the SERIOUSLY poor people in the world (~3.5 billion) to 1st world countries. It simply cannot be done

Obviously we need to ban all guns and put up more gun free zone signs.

The BIGGEST problem with gun violence, is how people get their hands on guns in the first place. I completely support (though i dont think i made that clear yet) amending the way guns are attained before a crazy gets one. But even then, strict gun laws WILL NOT STOP those who already have firearms to begin with. Which is why you need to protect yourself. Tightening guns laws and HOPING that they stop some ass hole from going nuts is stupid. DOnt be such a drama queen about teachers taking bigger roles int he protection of students. Keep firearms in designated places that can ONLY be accessed by qualified teachers.

Bullying is terrible, so lets just make ti illegal and hope that bullies follow the mandates rather than teaching kids ways to protect themselves

Hypothetical situation: You want to rob a bank. Are you going to pick the bank where the staff is armed and will fight back or are you going to going to pick a place where you WONT get lead poisoning?

I’ll tell you what would work. Mandatory psych evaluations every 4 years. It would be a win win. You would get most guns off the streets and most gun nuts on proper medicine. You have a history of mental illness? No guns. Already own a gun? You have X amount of time to see a shrink, if not you’re ass is going straight to jail and you don’t get to pass go. Hell can even take it a step further and do how the military does where they interview friends/family of people. If friends say you’re a loner who makes violent comments, no guns for you.

You pass the psych evaluation and you get as many AR-15s as your heart desires.

Psych evals are a good idea in theory, (just another half measure) however:
1. Who would pay for them?
2. How is this not a fascist idea and violation of constitutional rights?
3. The ACLU themselves say it is a violation of rights to exclude people with mental illnesses from owning firearms (which was a MAJOR factor in the Trump administration rolling back the Obama era mandate)

Hypothetical situation: Would you be able to stop me from gaining entry to your home and stealing your firearms (assuming im one of the "mentally ill" who shouldnt own a firearm and that you own a weapon to protect your home)? What is to stop someone from stopping their shrink appts and evals and saying that the breech on their weapon exploded and turned their AR15 into scrap metal?

I get that gun control and whatnot seems liek the best solution for gun violence, but it absolutely did not work for the war on drugs and i am not suggestion easing regulations at all. I am simply suggesting that we provide people with opportunities to protect themselves. Murder is illegal, yet it still happens. What is a great way to even the odds? Educate and train yourself with a firearm. I'm sure as chit not going to target someone that is adept in firearm safety

Right that would be cool if there were ZERO guns in america to start with but there arnt. I mean how do you propose a solution to keep criminals from getting their hands on guns?

Stupid thing to say and do...sure. Will that safe you and your family if i decided to do it? Absolutely not. Let's just enact partial measures and hope that a psycho will decide to follow the law. Do you just hope that other drivers follow that law and not speed as well as NEVER drink and drive or do you engage in defensive driving?

There are over 100 million legal firearm owners in america. "Gun nuts" arent the issue. Your willingness to be helpless and force others to be as well is beyond comprehension

Robbing banks=/=suicide missions. These guys are pretty disconnected from reality and I think the majority WANT to go out in a hail of bullets. I imagine they get off on thinking about their faces/stories/lives being plastered all over MSM. We're pretty much living the plot of Natural Born Killers.

Anecdotal evidence carries zero weight. Regardless, you would STILL take measures to protect your money if you owned the bank, right?

The evidence isn't anecdotal. How many of them kill themselves or attack armed police? The majority. The facts are all over for anyone to read, it just takes a while to look at each individual case. This means they had no plans of escape and having an armed guard wouldn't deter them. This doesn't mean I don't think it's a good idea. Just saying they will still try it.

Some people rob banks and get away with it. When has someone shot up a school and gotten away with it? The motivations are completely different.

It is almost 100% anecdotal. but robbing a bank because you want suicide by cop makes no sense. Chalking up every encounter (like this) is nothing more than throwing out opinions

Shooting up a school and robbing a bank arent even in the same spectrum. Goals differentiate the entire situation.

Hold on - you are saying the mindset of wanting to rob a bank to gain money is exactly the same as someone wanting to kill as many people as possible and then kill themselves? I don't even know how to reply to that.

I'm saying they are two types of people with totally different motivations, showing your analogy holds zero water, and you're arguing against that, so it means you think they are completely analogous.

I'm not really sure how you can misinterpret that. Sure, the guys at columbine wanted to die, but it is absolutely unfair to say that all school shooters are exactly like bank robbers who want to go out in a blaze of lead. If that cruz kid wanted to die, he wouldnt have been apprehended
