Can confirm, the vast number of police officers down have little man syndrome, didn’t do well in high school so a badge is vindicating. It’s absurd.

What about the bad guys? There will be bad guys every day. It's literally the police's pejorative to protect the citizens and enforce the law, no? The bad guys died, just as they would have in a shoot out on foot on a side street, or apartment harboring felons.
No it isnt

Cops have no duty to protect you or anyone else. Its your job and your job only to preserve your life

Cops only job is to arrest/stop criminals

Supreme court ruled on that long ago

The suspects shooting at the cops caused this, not the cops

Just stop

the ONLY thing i can think of is that maybe the suspect went to shoot the UPS brah or actually did and then they unloaded.

or I guess if the suspect started shooting outside of the truck then the cops might have had no choice. I honestly dont know the correct move in that scenario when everyone else in the vicinity is in danger

but IF the suspect didnt fire outside of the truck or at the hostage then that was totally unwarranted

The last 3 police videos posted on misc have all looked really bad.

I mean.... The perps WERE shooting from the UPS truck..... But using civillian traffic for cover seems like it's probably not protocol....

I don't even know how this one is going to get approached. It's not a situation where you have one dumb cop who decided to shoot first, ask questions later. Half the department unloaded on the truck. How do you even handle that? The town would be unpoliced if everyone who fired was suspended. I'm still trying to process this one too. How can so many officers make such a terrible decision at the same time. I just can't wrap my head around it.

It was stuck in traffic chief, the cops didnt tell them to drive into rush hour traffic, the suspects did that on their own. Again what were the cops supposed to do?

perhaps hang back to not start a firefight in a crowded area. then hopefully stop them at some later point when there is less people around.

So just let them carjack more people when their ups truck gets stuck? Maybe they seperate and carjack multiple people? Now you have multiple hostages in different vehicles.

The point is there is no perfect scenario. You monday morning quarterbacks have never been in a life or death situation. It was tragic but due to the suspects actions it was unavoidable. The suspects caused this, not the cops

I'm afraid that not good enough. I suppose there will be an investigation which will hopefully be unbiased.
I think if the suspects were not shooting at police then UPS guy should not have been turned into swiss cheese. The fact that criminals exist does not give law enforcement a green light to shoot civilians.

Better to have them carjack people than the police shoot and killing hostages and bystanders

At least with hostages you have an attempt of keeping them alive unless of course the police kill them first

So they execute the UPS driver then take another hostage so the cops should just let them keep executing people as they run out of gas? Should the cops just evacuate the whole town until the suspects run out of food and give up? Its not like the movies chief. People like you with no real world experience shouldnt comment

Which is what I guess they tried to do.

If I've said it once I've said it a hundred times, cops should all have an ak47 in the pursuit vehicle, no crim is going to escape when you are lighting him up with an AK.

No need for 50 cops with 9mm's when the pursuit vehicles are letting rip with 60 mag AK's.
Completely ridiculous

Hand held rpgs and sidewinders should be standard issue.

-theyre stuck in traffic. They didn't get out to carjack. If they did, eliminate then but that's not at all what happened, is it?

-You could, in fact, let them sit there without YOU killing anyone. Entirely possible.

If INNOCENT BYSTANDERS are your only cover on approach due to YOUR escalation, then maybe not engage?
