Me personally, I find it really weird that you consider yourself superior to everyone else, yet have nothing to show for it. And I mean absolutely nothing, it's kind of impressive how much of a failure you are. I know losers who don't try at anything in life, and they are nowhere near the level of rock bottom you've reached. It's like you're actively trying to fail. And if in fact you are, then I guess congratulations.
An MBA is a specialized degree. The specialization is business.

It's a specialized degree. You can also further specialize. The fact that it is an advanced degree should open your eyes that it involves specialized knowledge for the field of business.

You don't, but I imagine it helps a lot of people with little to no experience. Creating a Commercial Plumbing business for big Commercial projects entails much much more than a small joe smoe vape shop. Even small commerical subcontractors are doing 3 and 4 million dollar jobs. If that doesn't require a business degree I'm surprised

Market economy folks...if it were truly useless, you wouldn't see so many people choosing to study it. If an MBA were useless, you wouldn't see companies actively seeking people with an MBA.

Studying business is certainly helpful for running a business. It's not necessary, but it is helpful.

Wincel certainly getting a warm welcome back to the Misc.

Through school you are told that you won't make any kind of decent living without a degree, and yet many in the trades do just fine, so it's not bragging about not being educated, it's a haha in your face to the establishment.

It definitely can help depending on the school you choose. Let's not pretend a top tier business school won't help. It may give you the upper hand over those who start their business from just reading.

Not all degrees are a piece of paper. Many can get your foot in the door in different fields. Yes a Construction Management degree will greatly help in getting out of the trades which is why I had tradesmen in my classes

Explain to me how these programs continue to attract students in a market economy. Explain to me why a fortune 500 company would put any value on having an MBA. The company wants to make as much money as possible by hiring the best people it can for management roles. What you're arguing really makes no sense when you really look at it.

Your counterexample fails since you've gone beyond the domain of discussion. I am not a certification program in a market economy. Nice try with overloaded definition, but that's not an argument. Try again.

A BA and an MBA are used as arbitrary qualifiers when a company is looking for employees to hire. If there are too many candidates, let's throw out the resumes without an MBA. You wouldn't know this, but that's how companies work in the real world. I am part of the team that interviews and decided who is getting hired, so I know these things.

It's obviously not an arbitrary qualifier. It's a specific qualifier that helps you find better candidates. It clearly has value.

Where I work the guy who makes the least money has two master's degrees. The guy who makes the most didn't go to college at all.

One more time, you have no idea what you're talking about. Please stop giving your uneducated opinion. Listen to what people who actually know about this are telling you.

The claim was that it serves as a useful qualifier for hiring. If it didn't, companies wouldn't care. They don't hire you based on shoe size because it's irrelevant. They do care if you have an MBA because it is relevant.

Now you're talking about wealth/personal income and certifications. That has nothing to do with what I said. I was arguing about the usefulness of an MBA. You seem to think an MBA is not useful. I am still waiting for an explanation for why companies would use it as a discriminating criterion then.

For the same reason that most jobs want a bachelors degree. Too many people apply, and it's easy to cut all those who don't have a bachelors degree. Of course 4 years of experience trumps a degree every time. If you had gone to college, you'd know that they don't actually teach you anything relevant to a job.

If most jobs want it and view it as valuable, then it is clearly economically valuable.

Sure, some of the trades pay well relative to other job prospects that require no higher education, but the stats don't lie.
A person with a 4 year degree will average $1 Million more income in their life than a person without a college degree. Take away useless liberal majors and that number is likely closer to 2 Million. In addition educated people are more likely to have better financial habits, thus retaining and growing their net worth more than tradies/uneducated people.
School isn't for some people, if you can make an honest living without getting an education more power to you. However, bragging about making $X without an education is akin to bragging about selling yourself short.
Funny how people only consider education a degree from an over priced institution.

100% this tho. it's basically the whole meaning of having a career, you work at job using a specific skill set and advance in said skill set gradually to keep advancing in that field for better compensation/benefits till you retire. i don't know why we're debating this even.

No one hates you. Most of us just think you're a dumb ass. Then there's the fact that despite having absolutely no experience in any field, you want to give an opinion, and will just keep repeating the same thing. You're doing the same thing Christians do when discussing the bible.

Being a carpenter is something specialized, being an HR manager is not, most white collar jobs are not specialized. In white collar jobs fitting in socially is more important than what you know.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.
