Flatten the Curve
We're not shutting down society. We just need to mind capacity for ventilators.
Only a few months, and then, we can open up more as demand for ventilators goes down.
We did not need ventilators. We found more effective treatment, and they're counterproductive in most cases.
We need the vaccine.
Even with the vaccine, the new strains can infect others from vaccinated people.

This is an MIT open course and has been constructed to inform the scientifically curious about covid. It does not require much in the way of prerequisites aside from some basic introductory biology. I strongly suggest you all watch this.
If you are curious for more technical details about biology, I recommend downloading "Molecular Biology of the Cell" by Alberts et al, and Janeway's "Immunobiology".

10 years from now some big event will happen and when they roll them into the hospitals, none of them will work. Like the trailer houses built for Hurricane Katrina.
